As the autumn shines brightly and the golden years unfold, I would like to first congratulate all the students who, after years of study and striving, have come to the ideal shore with youthful passion. On this new starting line, the library will be a strong support for your studies, a guide for your new goals, and we will unite our common sentiments to create a splendid future together!

Spanning more than seven decades, the DUT Library has grown from a thousand square metres in the early days of the university to 83,000 square metres today — flourishing alongside the campus, with branches now in full leaf. Here, you can explore a vast collection of 13.72 million items across 97 platforms and 247 databases, and enjoy the humanistic support of a knowledge-services team of nearly 140 staff, always at your service.

With a grand layout of three places and five libraries, we are in line with the "inclusiveness, self-improvement, virtue, and the integration of knowledge and action" spirit of the university, committed to creating, discovering, imparting, preserving, and applying knowledge. Here, we not only provide basic services such as borrowing, electronic reading, information consultation, database retrieval, multimedia resources, and shared spaces but also offer in-depth information services such as information literacy education and training, technology novelty search, patent literature retrieval and analysis; rich reading activities and lectures by famous scholars have formed an atmosphere of nearly ten thousand participants each year; the Ministry of Education's Technology Novelty Search Station and the National University Intellectual Property Information Service Center, built on the basis of the library, are both the first in the country.

Today's university represents a guide to acquiring new and good knowledge, which is our vision for the library and also the purpose of our establishment; thinking, bursting, creating, and adhering to this is our spirit of the library and also our eager expectation for new students: you are the only creators of your own history!

Together with classmates in the spring, together with the summer breeze in praise of the ocean, together with the harvest in the autumn, and together with the winter sun dancing on the ice and frost, the seasons change, and the years are like a song, all originating from reading and everything is summed up in the collection of books. On behalf of the entire library staff, I sincerely welcome the students to enter this vast and boundless palace of knowledge!
